Pay scale ( वेतन ) : The Fellowship will be Rs.40,000/- per month.
Educational requirements ( शैक्षिक आवश्यकता ) : 1. Ph.D degree in Astronomy/astrophysics or a related discipline. Ph.D must have been secured within five years of date of submission of the application. Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D thesis and are awaiting appraisal are also eligible to apply
Experience requirements ( अनुभव ) : Experience in astronomical data analysis. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in analyzing interferometry data.Experience in programming languages such as IDL and Python desirable
Desired skills ( वांछित कौशल ) : Applicant should have good oral and written communication skills in scientific English.
Job responsibilities / description ( उत्तरदायित्व) :The Global View of Star Formation in the Milky Way (GLOSTAR) is a blind survey of the Galactic Plane with the JVLA in the 4-8 GHz band. The selected candidate will utilize survey data (broad band continuum in addition to spectral lines of formaldehyde, 6.7 GHz methanol maser, and radio recombination lines) to carry out research on high-mass star formation. Complementarity data taking and analysis with the GMRT using the new uGMRT system will be required. The candidate will have the opportunity to spend extended periods at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy

About Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST)
Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), situated at Thiruvananthapuram is a Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. IIST functions as an autonomous body under the Department of Space, Government of India. The idea of such an institute was mooted keeping in mind the need for high quality manpower for the Indian Space Research Organization, one of world’s leading scientific organizations engaged in space research and space applications. The institute is the first of its kind in the country, to offer high quality education at the undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and post-doctoral levels on areas with special focus to space sciences, space technology and space applications. IIST was formally inaugurated on 14 September 2007 by Dr. G. Madhavan Nair, the then Chairman, ISRO and was temporarily housed in the premises of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, very close from where ISRO built and launched its first rocket.
